About Hair Loss

The thought of facing hair loss affects everyone differently. Some people accept it without losing any sleep, while others find it quite difficult to deal with. For those people seeking a hair loss treatment, the information and misinformation on the Internet can be very confusing. Many patients are very emotional about their hair loss and become quite vulnerable to unethical companies or physicians selling "false hopes" that will not meet the patients' expectations. We are dedicated to giving our patients the best hair restoration results with the highest level of service and care.

The average person is born with 100,000-150,000 terminal hair follicles on the scalp.

The human hair grows in cycles:

  • The Growing Phase (Anagen)- 85-90% of the scalp hairs are in this phase and it lasts for approximately 6 years.

  • The Resting Phase (Catagen)- 1% of the scalp hairs are in this phase and it lasts for approximately 3 weeks.

  • The Falling Out Phase (Telogen)- 10% of the scalp hairs are in this phase and it lasts for approximately 3 months.

  • A person with normal hair growth will shed 50-100 hairs per day.

There are many different causes of hair loss, such as:

  • Systemic Medical Problems

  • Effect of Medications

  • Dermatological Diseases

  • Alopecia Areata

  • Telogen Effluvium

  • Vitamin Toxicities and Deficiencies

  • Androgenic Alopecia (patterned baldness, by far the most common cause of hair loss)
